Acyclica’s BlueCompass simplifies traffic analysis. Much more than a simple origin/destination tracking device, this new technology empowers users to sample traffic data across entire networks rather than just corridors. BlueCompass can be affordably deployed at intersections throughout the city. Traffic flow analysis, previously cost prohibitive, is now inexpensive, accurate, and routine.

How Does It Work?

There are many Bluetooth-enabled devices out there including mobile phones, cameras, laptops – even vehicles with their GPS navigation systems – all of which already meet protocols for the wireless transmission of data. Each transmits a unique identifier called a MAC (Media Access Control) address. BlueCompass anonymously scans and collects these identifiers, matching them from point to point, providing highly stable, accurate, and reliable travel times, along with the ability analyze traffic flows at an unprecedented level of detail.

Simple XML Data Interface
Communicate with BlueCompass using open XML schema for easy integration. Use either Acyclica’s data manager or third-party tools to calculate travel times and create reports.

Anonymity
Acyclica uses an advanced MD5 algorithm to encrypt MAC addresses to ensure the privacy of users. Devices can be matched from point to point but never unscrambled to reveal the original device ID.

Wireless
BlueCompass is Wifi enabled (802.11 b/g), allowing for easy installation and integration. Simply place in field – no need to worry about running cables as long as the device is within range of a wireless network.

Going Green
Consuming 20 times less energy than a standard light bulb, Acyclica’s BlueCompass is designed to conserve energy. BlueCompass draws less than three Watts and, if desired, uses solar power for true wireless deployment (optional).
